NORMAN, Okla. – Lauren Dobashi of Stanford and Auburn’s Corey Maggard will serve as United States
assistant coaches while the International assistants will be Robert Duck of Florida State and England and
Ria Quiazon Scott of Virginia and the Philippines at the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup. Longtime Arnold Palmer partner
Rolex is continuing its 50 year relationship through its support of the matches which will be hosted by The
Alotian Club June 7-9.
This season marks the sixth at Stanford for Dobashi, who was promoted to associate head coach in
2018. She was named the 2017-18 Golf Pride Grips WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year. During
Dobashi’s tenure, the Cardinal women's golf team has tallied five consecutive NCAA Championships
appearances, won three straight NCAA Regional titles, produced 16 full-field victories and 14 All-
Americans. Stanford has also advanced to the match play portion of the NCAA Championships each year
since the format's inception in 2015. During the 2017-18 season, Dobashi led the team during head coach
Anne Walker's prolonged absence. The Cardinal finished third or better in each of its events throughout
season, including a first-place finish at the NCAA San Francisco Regional, and went on to reach the
semifinals at the NCAA Championships.
Maggard is in his fifth season at Auburn and his third as associate head coach. He was the recipient of
the 2018 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award presented by TaylorMade. Last season the
Tigers earned their best finish in program history when they tied for third at the NCAA Championships
and claimed the Southeastern Conference title, its first since 2002. Maggard helped lead Auburn to as
high as No. 2 nationally in 2016-17 and the Tigers have claimed 15 tournament victories. The team has
been recognized as an 18Birdies All-Academic Team in all five of Maggard’s seasons at Auburn. Prior to
coming to Auburn in 2014-15, Maggard won four-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference
Championships in his four years as head men's golf coach at Division III Guilford College.
Duck is in his eighth season as an assistant coach with both the men’s and women’s programs at Florida
State. Under Ducks’ tutelage, both Seminole teams have become perennial leaders in the national
rankings and the production of All-Americans and All-ACC performers. He has worked with eight of the
top 10 scoring men and eight of the top 10 scoring women in school history. The Seminole men have
produced nine All-Americans, 16 All-ACC selections, two ACC Golfers of the Year and three ACC
Freshman of the Year, while the women have produced six All-Americans and 13 All-ACC performers.
During each of his seven seasons, the Seminole men and the Seminole women have appeared in the
NCAA Tournament. An Arnold Palmer Cup veteran, Duck helped lead GB&I to a 12-12 tie with the United
States in the 1998 match at St. Andrews.
Scott was named Virginia’s head coach in July of 2018 and led the Cavaliers to a first-place finish in her
first tournament as head coach. Prior to her arrival at Virginia, Scott was head coach at Oregon where
she guided the Ducks to NCAA postseason play in all nine of her seasons in Eugene. Prior to her arrival,
Oregon hadn’t advanced to the NCAA Finals in 10 straight years. Her teams produced seven of the top
eight season scoring averages in school history, and each player in Oregon’s top-10 season scoring
average category was coached by her. During the 2016-17 season, Scott led the Ducks to the program's
first back-to-back NCAA Championships appearances since 1997-98. That performance came a year
after the Ducks advanced to the match play portion of the 2016 NCAA Championships and tied for fifth,
their best finish in program history. Scott joined Oregon in 2009 after a two-year stint as the head coach
at San Francisco where she was named West Coast Conference Coach of the Year. She was on the
Board of Directors for the Women's Golf Coaches Association from 2012-2016 and most recently was the
Associate Vice President from 2014-2016.

(GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla. in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style
tournament featuring the top men’s and women’s university/college golfers matching the United States
